GENERAL INFORMATION
Currency:
In Morocco we use Dirham (MAD) – 10DH = 1€. Almost everything in Morocco is still paid for in cash, especially here in the suburbs. At the ATMs you can withdraw 2000DH (approx. 200€) per session (you can of course repeat this as often as you like, depending on the card limit).
What clothes do I need?
Morocco is a liberal Muslim country where wearing shorts and t-shirts is no problem for both men and women. Bikinis and swimming trunks are normal on the beach, but it's advisable to cover your arms and legs when walking around town. Shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops are normal. Pants and sweaters are sometimes needed, especially in mid-winter when the evenings can be a bit chilly, so warm clothing is a good idea during this time.
Other:
In Tamraght people are familiar with tourists, are polite and helpful. Moroccans speak Arabic, most are fluent in French and some also speak English and German. There is another dialect here in the region, that of the
We speak Berber. This is called Tamaziɣt.
